CIAM has had many enquiries from people interested in taking our classes by correspondence. This may be due to being too busy with work and family commitments to attend ‘face-to-face’ classes. Others are living in regional areas, interstate or overseas.
Covid-19 restrictions have also presented challenges to CIAM due to social distancing and requirements to limit our class sizes.
We are pleased to let you know that we are currently developing short courses that will be available by correspondence shortly.
These correspondence courses will be suitable for people wishing to learn how to draft basic blocks using the patented CIAM rulers that fit their own measurements.
So, for example. a stand-alone course will cover drafting a skirt.
Other stand-alone courses will cover drafting trousers or a bodice. You may also wish to enrol in courses that cover drafting sleeves or collars.
In order to participate in the correspondence courses, you will first need to purchase the CIAM ruler set that is only available to our students.
We will send you our copyrighted instructions for each correspondence course that you enrol in. Your assignments will be submitted by email – this will require you to submit photographic evidence of your pattern drafts and toiles for feedback.
We are also working on short videos to demonstrate how to use the CIAM rulers for each course.
Please note that correspondence courses will not be available for the CIAM certificate and diploma courses at this time.
Please contact us to register your interest in enrolling in CIAM correspondence courses when they are available.
We will provide further information on this website and by direct email if you are on our email records.
